Our history

It begins on paper...

In Guatemala City, Dr. Walter Gómez presented a different idea than what was usual during a family gathering, sharing an idea that had been on his mind for some time. This informal conversation among family members marked the beginning of an exciting and challenging journey that would change the destiny of many people in his community.

Thus, the idea of the Genesis Foundation emerged, with a comprehensive approach that encompassed cultural, educational, sports, social, and humanitarian services, recognizing that health is only one part of the broader well-being that the community needed.

The first clinic opens

On October 28, 2018, a significant milestone in Genesis's history was achieved: the opening of its first clinic. This event marked the concrete beginning of our mission and vision in action.

The opening of the first Genesis clinic was a crucial step toward fulfilling our mission to improve the health and well-being of the population in Guatemala. From the very first day, we committed to challenging the belief that dignified healthcare must be expensive. We worked tirelessly to close that gap, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has access to quality medical services.

Guided by our mission, we strive to promote equity in access to physical, mental, and emotional health. The opening of the first clinic marked a significant step toward fulfilling our commitment to providing quality medical care for everyone in Guatemala.

This inauguration also represented a step forward in our vision of a healthier and more prosperous Guatemala. We see ourselves as a strong, professional, and independent organization committed to the integral improvement of the health of all people in the country. We are determined to promote the development of health in all its aspects and to eliminate the barriers that prevent equitable access to quality medical services for all Guatemalans.

The opening of the first Genesis clinic was just the beginning of a continuous journey toward fulfilling our mission and vision. We are committed to continuing to move forward, working tirelessly to make Guatemala a place where everyone can enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life.

The second clinic opens

After the success and positive impact of the first Genesis clinic in the Guatemalan community, the foundation's team embarked on an exciting new challenge: the opening of the second clinic. On August 17, 2023, this new medical facility opened its doors in the municipality of Fraijanes, with the same commitment and dedication that had characterized the foundation from the beginning.

Strategically located in the municipality of Fraijanes, the second Genesis clinic quickly became the preferred medical clinic for those seeking accessible and quality medical care. The choice of Fraijanes as a location was not random; during visits to the department, the lack of access to dignified healthcare in the area was observed. From day one, the team of professionals worked hard to provide compassionate and personalized care to every patient who walked through its doors.

The opening of this second clinic not only expanded the reach of the Genesis Foundation but also reaffirmed its commitment to the mission of improving the health and well-being of the Guatemalan population. With every medical consultation, every diagnosis, and every treatment, the foundation continued its work of creating a more equitable and accessible healthcare system for all.

The second clinic closes

Despite the positive impact that Genesis's second clinic was having in the Fraijanes community, unfortunately, its operation was cut short due to adverse circumstances. The clinic was forced to close its doors due to a lack of support from the property owner of the rented premises.

Despite the Genesis team's efforts to keep the clinic operational, the lack of sufficient funds to cover the costs of a new rental property was a challenge that could not be overcome. Although alternatives were sought and steps were taken to ensure the clinic's continuity, the insufficiency of funds ultimately led to the closure of the medical facility.

The clinic's closure was a heavy blow to the Fraijanes community, which had found in Genesis an invaluable resource for accessing quality medical care. However, despite this difficult situation, the Genesis Foundation did not lose sight of its mission and continued to seek ways to support the population, exploring new strategies and collaborations to move forward with its commitment to improving the health and well-being of Guatemalans.

Help is sought to continue growing

The story of the Genesis Foundation highlights its dedication to improving health and well-being in Guatemala. From its inception, Genesis has worked tirelessly to provide quality medical care and address the comprehensive needs of the community.

The Genesis clinics, both the first and the second, quickly became a fundamental part of their respective communities, offering essential medical services and complementary programs.

However, the closure of the second clinic due to a lack of funds underscores the crucial importance of continued financial support. Despite the efforts of the Genesis team, the lack of sufficient resources resulted in the closure of this vital facility.

It is at times like these that the need for sponsorship becomes more evident. With the proper support, Genesis can expand its reach and ensure the long-term sustainability of its operations. Financial support not only ensures the continuity of existing clinics but also allows for the opening of new facilities in areas where the need for medical care is most pressing.

By collaborating with Genesis through sponsorship, you not only invest in the health and well-being of the Guatemalan population but also contribute to building a fairer, more equitable, and healthier society for all. Together, we can make a significant difference in people's lives and in the future of Guatemala.

Despite not having financial help, Genesis opens its first pharmacy

Despite the harsh experience of closing the second clinic, the Genesis Foundation remained firmly committed to the well-being of the Guatemalan population. With determination and a clear vision, Genesis took a step forward by opening its first pharmacy.

This initiative arose from the awareness of the economic difficulties many people face in obtaining the medications they need. Genesis set out to offer a practical and accessible solution to this problem, driven by the vision of equitable access to health for all.

The Genesis team kept the hope alive of making a difference even with limited resources. With the same focus on compassionate and personalized care that characterized its clinics, the Genesis pharmacy became a reliable option for the community, where people found not only affordable medications but also guidance and support from Genesis's trained staff.

The opening of the first Genesis pharmacy reaffirmed the foundation's unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the Guatemalan population. In this way, Genesis demonstrated that the power of commitment and dedication can achieve great things. However, with more sponsorship and financial help, Genesis could further expand its impact and reach more people in need.
